In those days came John the Baptist, preaching in the wilderness of Judaea, (3:1)

And saying, Repent ye: for the kingdom of heaven is at hand. (3:2)

For this is he that was spoken of by the prophet Esaias, saying, The voice of one crying in the wilderness, Prepare ye the way of the Lord, make his paths straight. (3:3)

John did baptize in the wilderness, and preach the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins. (1:4)

Annas and Caiaphas being the high priests, the word of God came unto John the son of Zacharias in the wilderness. (3:2)

And he came into all the country about Jordan, preaching the baptism of repentance for the remission of sins; (3:3)

There was a man sent from God, whose name [was] John. (1:6)

The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all [men] through him might believe. (1:7)

He was not that Light, but [was sent] to bear witness of that Light. (1:8)
